The story in one paragraph
ZMZM Labs makes science-forward supplements and skincare for people who refused to choose between a religious standard and product quality. Every supplement is formulated to halal standards — alcohol-free, gelatin-free, no pork derivatives. Every skincare product is formulated for use around wudu, excluding silicones, film-forming polymers, and waterproof acrylates. The catalog is organized around the five daily prayers, applying chronobiology to a routine observant Muslims already live.
What’s unique
- Single-standard transparency. Every product page states how that product is verified. No conflation, no over-claiming, and no third-party seal we haven't earned.
- Wudu-conscious formulation. A published exclusion list for anything that forms a water-impermeable film on skin, with a water-permeability test methodology in development.
- Prayer-window product design. Supplements and skincare routines structured around Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib, and Isha — not to invent ritual, but because chronobiology agrees with timing principles observant Muslims already follow.
- 30-day money-back guarantee on opened products. Including supplements.
Founder bio
Majid Abdow is the solo founder of ZMZM Labs, building the company from Louisville, Kentucky. Living with one kidney made label-reading a necessity rather than a preference — and made plain how little a supplement label actually discloses about ingredient form, dose, or origin. ZMZM is the answer to that: a small catalog where every ingredient is read against the primary literature and then against the halal standard, and where the brand publishes only what it can document.
Available story angles
- Halal is the new clean. Why the halal standard — a 1,400-year-old ingredient and welfare framework — is converging with the modern clean-label movement.
- The wudu problem nobody solved. Why most skincare forms a film that complicates Muslim prayer, and what a formulation standard built around it looks like.
- Solo founder, single-standard transparency. A Muslim American building a brand that publishes exactly how every product is verified — and is candid about not carrying a third-party seal.
- Chronobiology meets ritual. Why prayer-window product design is not marketing language — it is what the research already says about cortisol, melatonin, and nutrient timing.
- One kidney, one label at a time. How a medical reality turned into a sourcing standard, and what it revealed about what supplement labels legally don't have to tell you.
